We all have that moment when the light bulb goes off and you realized you have found your true calling. That light bulb went off Christmas when I was sixteen years old and my eldest sister got engaged to her high school sweetheart and love of her life. My mom being the loving mother she is, pulled out about 5 wedding magazine's wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper from under the tree, and the planning for Sarah and Kevin's wedding began almost instantly.
Sarah knew the colors she wanted was red and ivory, and she wanted to get married in the same church my parents got married in, Minor Basilica Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Other than that we were stumped. My aunt graciously offered her beautiful plantation style home to Sarah and Kevin, but that meant we were going to have to rent tables, linens, chairs, centerpieces and a tent. Not to mention we needed catering, bar, music, fans (because the wedding was in June in central Louisiana) and a photographer. Did I mention we were planning a wedding to be held in a small town in central Louisiana? Let the challenge begin.
Slowly we pieced all the moving parts of the wedding together, we created a timeline, picked the music for the band, found a rental company and next thing we knew it was the wedding day. Just so I can paint a picture, you know that part in Steel Magnolias where they are setting up for Shelby and Jackson's wedding in the backyard. The glasses were broken, the hundreds of birds in the Oak trees, the pestering neighbor coming over to complain? Well, we all feared Sarah and Kevin's wedding day would be like this, and it was the complete opposite! All our hard planning proved a success, and we could not have asked for an easier wedding day. At that moment, I knew I wanted to be a wedding planner. I knew I wanted to transform venues into the event every bride dreams of their entire lives. I wanted to create beautiful weddings that are stress free to the bride, groom and their families. Now, nine years, a college degree, event panning at two venues and countless weddings later, we have Birch Tree Events. An event planning company built on passion.
Thank you VI West Photography for capturing this beautiful wedding!
